Microclimate change for the better.

The work in the Yennenga Water Team is continuing.  During the meeting held, end of January, the team drew a working plan to be able to give a concrete form to the plans to rehabilitate the dam in Nakamtenga.  Beside a source of drinking water for the animals, the dam will have several purposes. When the dam is deepened and formed to contain a suitable level of water around the year, it will be possible to do fish farming which can become an important source of income for the young people in the village. The position of the dam, close to the main road, will attract clients to the nearby restaurant. As there will be planting of trees and other suitable vegetation around the dam, a pleasant site will be created and the microclimate will change for the better.

The planning is done in close collaboration with our Yennenga Networkers in Nakamtenga. They are now providing information and facts, which are important for the designing and calculations of the dam rehabilitation. They have measured the dam and are now digging a three-meter deep hole to test the penetration of the water during dry season.

If everything works as planed, it is possible that the first phase of the dam construction can be achieved before the next rainy season that hopefully starts in July.

Are you taking part of the Spring!

It is spring in the air! Nature gets a fresh start, and we celebrated a couple of weeks ago, our little daughter Sonja’s 4 th birthday! Her choice of theme at the party was perfect: Tinkerbell! One of the fairies most important tasks is to ensure that seasonal shifts are done in the right way.

The Fairies have different tasks. Tinkerbell is a pot fairy. That means she is good at building, fixing, repairing and finding new and smart solutions to make everyday life simpler. Tinkerbell is a mischievous, headstrong and brave little fairy. Size is of no importance when it comes to achieving things in this world! Tinkerbell learns that if she is true to herself, magical things can happen.

This goes indeed very well with the organizational philosophy we want in the network Yennenga Progress. Life is about finding how you can make the most of your life / for the good of the world, let it catch you and you will see that it will take you to unbelievable heights! Everybody is important here and now!

At our birthday party, we focused on Tinkerbell and the spring, and how nature best can be awakened and nurtured! In Burkina Faso, we have the same seasonal cycle as here in Sweden, although there the green will not return after snow, but after the drought. My daughter Sonja wanted for her birthday, a contribution to plant trees, and to develop the school garden, for the children at the kindergarten in the village Nakamtenga in Burkina Faso! Besides being a good supplement for the school kitchen, it gives the children a possibility to learn about nature and gardening.

Sonjas garden project recieved 1160 SEK, which feels great and we look forward to getting the work started at the end of Mars!

Thank you all lovely people who contributed to make the party such a happy event and also contributed to the project.
