Infrastructure Sustainable Energy

The entire population of the village should have access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services and it should be renewable. We are continuously working solutions both on a structural level and at the family level.

Sustainable energy

– Every household needs access to a basic solar energy kits. What we now use is called Offgridsun and we order it from Italy. (Http://www.offgridsun.com/en/products/energy-station/). Each kit costs as little as SEK 500, of which the family pays 30 percent.

– All operations at the Yennenga center need financing for solar energy investment.

– Financing and expertise are sought to best invest in battery bank and solar energy, in order to avoid having to rely on diesel generators or state electricity.

– Biogas for the gas stoves is a point on the agenda that needs to be resolved, so all tips and advice are welcome. Maybe even a new business venture for the village?

– Subsidize a gas stove for a family in the village and get a gift card to give away or keep yourself!

ABOUT THE PROJECT

In 2018, we had achieved solar energy for lighting and ceiling fans at the youth center, guest houses, parts of the primary school and the preschool in Monomtenga. The rest of the center still uses state electricity. Funding and expertise are needed to be able to invest in battery bank and solar power to avoid having to rely on diesel generators when the power is swaying, as well as investing in the right appliances and machines that are most energy efficient.

To stop desertification and restore destroyed land, we are actively working in the village of Nakamtenga to develop alternative methods of energy use that reduce forest deforestation. Yennenga Progress welding workshop produces gas stoves, which are used as the traditional stoves, but do not require any firewood.

Solar energy kits

In 2018, we launched a new product in the village, namely a simple solar energy kit Offgridsun consisting of three LED lights and a socket for charging mobile phones. Of the 142 households in the village, 14 have solar energy at present. Half of the cost is paid by the respective households and half is subsidized by donations via Yennenga Progress. We have received a donation from Rotary Trädgårdsföreningen in Gothenburg to take the next step!

Stoves for cooking

To stop desertification, we are actively working in the village to develop alternative methods of energy use that reduce deforestation. Yennenga Progress welding workshop produces gas stoves, which are used as the traditional stoves, but which require no firewood. 56 out of 142 households in the village, have gas stove or other cooking energy that does not require firewood. We buy the gas used locally and cannot guarantee where it comes from. We are looking for a solution such as self-produced biogas or other alternative solutions.
