ABOUT THE PROJECT

With the foundation of the community college, we meet the gap that has arisen for those adults who have not attended primary school, which in the Burkina Faso countryside for the adult part of the population is between 70-100%. This is a supplement to the vocational training being conducted, which means that the "vocational certificate" is accepted as a full vocational education, according to Burkina Faso's regulations.

The community college can offer an educational method that takes advantage of the adult student's knowledge and skills and in the meeting between teachers and students strengthens their own learning. It gives the joy of contributing, confirmation and strengthens me as an individual and a person. It strengthens self-esteem and self-confidence and is the basis for developing a strong "voice".

Supplementary elementary school

Starting in the fall of 2018, we have been able to offer evening courses for adults and young adults in the area who want to study elementary school. They have been given the opportunity to start at the level they once finished from 1st to 9th grade. Most of them attended 1st-3rd grade and in the summer of 2019 six adult student attended 9th grade. Elementary education provides the opportunity for supplementary education that can provide professional diploma.

Other courses

Since Yennenga Progress started its operations in the village of Nakamtenga in 2001, courses and continuing education have been held regularly in a wide variety of subjects and themes. These courses can now be organized and administered at Folkhögskolan, and contribute to an ever wider range of continuing education and lifelong learning for adults and young adults in the area.

Collaboration with Skurup Folkhögskola

Skurup Folkhögskola was founded in 1888. The education started to secure the farmers' way into industrialism. There is a tradition and a strong drive to contribute to democratization and development not only nationally but also internationally. The way of working and the methods of learning are based on the principles of popular education as without borders
